Itakane Health developed the BCM Pulse solution to ensure optimal Occupational Health and Safety (OHS), efficient business continuity management (BCM) and infection risk control during the COVID-19 pandemic and future pandemics.

At the onset of COVID-19, business was disrupted in an unprecedented manner. Companies grappled with how best to ensure business survival. We designed BCM Pulse after observing that there was a need for a solution that would best meet the requirements for Business Continuity Management (BCM) in these difficult times.

BCM PULSE SOLUTION

General Risk Assessment

The GRA is conducted on a web portal application managed by OHS and HR. This process is conducted as per MHS Act and OHS Act guidelines. The Pulse solution divides the business into 4 COVID-19 risk areas (low, medium, high and very high) in which certain employees may work (according to their IRA).

Individual Risk Assessment

The IRA is conducted on both the web portal and mobile app. This assesses the employee’s home/social environment; transport to and from work (both of which encourage employer/HR involvement to reduce risk); occupation-specific HIRA (employer/H&S involvement to reduce risk); assessment for fitness to work in a specific occupation and in a specific COVID -19 risk area - taking account of occupational specific HIRA and individual comorbidity. 

Web & Mobile Application

The app has an employee certificate of fitness – this is for a specific occupation and business COVID-19 risk area. An employee who has been made fit (by nurse or doctor) to work in medium risk can only work in medium and low risk areas. If fit for low-risk areas – employees can only work in low-risk areas. If fit for high-risk areas, employees can work in high, medium and low risk areas. Compliance with Government Regulations

Blutetooth Intergration

The Bluetooth (in addition to signs in the workplace) will prevent the employee going to higher risk areas. This means that an accountant who has controlled diabetes, may come to work in his own car and work in his office (low risk) – only. Bluetooth also ensures physical distancing, informed work contact tracing and informed closure/cleaning of certain business sections, if the employee is positive.

Regulatory Compliance

All employers must report a worker who has been diagnosed with COVID-19 (C 19). Each employee's C19 vulnerability status. Results of mandatory C19 screening of employees who are symptomatic. Data regarding employees who test positive for C19 . The number of close (high risk) contact employees, with a C19 confirmed. Details on return to work, post-infection outcomes of infected employees.
